Salon Différance - Kunst & Erregung

Kunst & Erregung will be the debut night of the latest event series Salon Différance, an original cooperation between the Institute of Science and Research (IWF) of the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK) and Tanzquartier Wien. The first part will focus on art that arouses – both body and soul. At the centre of this evening will be the crossing of borders and breaking of taboos, that might turn into disgust or shame, as well as the deliberate employment of sexuality. Especially the second half of the 20^th century has seen many an aesthetic-theoretic concept and artistic practice make use of these strategies of provocation, critique and subversion. Even pornography – not least from a queer-feminist point of view – has been re-examined to the same effect.
