Micha Rataj

I was born on the 26th of January, 1975 in Písek, South Bohemia. Immediately after graduating from secondary school (1993), I entered the Faculty of Arts at the Charles University, pursuing a degree in (Musicology). I graduated in 1999 with a thesis on 13th -15th Century Gregorian chant in Bohemia (the text is here available). In 1995, I undertook study in composition with Prof. Ivan Kurz. I entered Faculty of Performing Arts in Prague in 1998 and plan to finish my composition studies in 2003.
In 1995, I was awarded a scholarship for music studies at the Royal Holloway University of London in the Great Britain. In 1998 I attended the summer semester at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, where I studied the history of German music, computer music systems and Algorithmic Composition (CLISP, Common Music, etc.).
Since 1996 I have worked in the Czech Radio 3 as a Music Programmer.

I also have been composing music for stage and radio plays (see the link "My Composition"). I cooperate with several magazines focused on classical music, i. e. (Harmonie), HIS Voice, Bulletón of the Warner Chappel CZ company.
