As I departed from Vienna, I reflected on the time spent at the MQ artist-in-residence program. It occurred to me that the intensity and richness of the impressions and experiences has left an indelible mark on me in the both the professional and personal ways.
I and my collaborator Jeff Bliumis have spent the time creating a four channel video installation “Cloning Factory”. Our hosts MQ quartier21 and culture2culture, who invited us, where extremely helpful in organizing, providing and arranging our exhibition and everything else we needed for working on our project.
The unmistakable aura and charm of the old and new Vienna offered an unique sense of sounds and rhythms, which found its way into our project. I realized how the “place” can influence the outcome.
Since I returned me and Jeff Bliumis have continued to develop the cloning subject and as a result we just completed a short film “Cloning Factory2”.
I feel that Vienna experience has peeled of a few layers from my protective and established ways, exposing and implanting the sensibilities of the expressions that are fresh and deeply motivating for my future growth, explorations of the artistic universe and the idea of connectivity of the familiar and unfamiliar, old and new.
