The singer Pauline and a group of forestry students seek refuge from a storm in a mill. When the stern head forester Tymoleon turns up looking for his missing pupils, he mistakes Pauline for the miller, and his pedagogical zeal immediately mutates into eroticism. But Tymoleon is engaged to the beautiful Freda! But Botho, one of the forestry students, has just fallen in love with her. When Erasmus, a botany professor with the completely misleading surname "Müller", stumbles into the mill, the chaos is perfect. Only a magic potion can save the day: The professor's knowledge of botany creates a woodruff punch that first strengthens, then cleanses and brings order. Johann Strauss' penultimate operetta Waldmeister offers musical treasures that go beyond the well-known overture. For the Strauss anniversary year, director Josef E. Köpplinger rediscovers this song of praise to the joy of the senses for the stage with great esprit.
