The Schauraum offers students of the University of Applied Arts Vienna a platform to present their work in changing exhibitions in a public space. Visitors not only gain insights into the diverse artistic processes and perspectives of young art, but also into trends and impulses that could shape the future of contemporary art.
Within the series DRAWING RELATIONS, the showroom is curated by Simon Goritschnig and Anya Triestram from the department of Drawing and Printmaking.

In symbiofantasies, life forms mix and grow together. Animals, insects, plants, cells, and bacteria connect, shaping evolution not through competition but through cooperation. Inspired by the idea that life evolves through symbiosis, we create a space where different parts of nature come together in new ways.

Through sculptures, drawings, and poetry, we explore how these elements can merge, interact, and form something unexpected. The familiar and the unfamiliar reach toward each other, searching for new connections. Our works don’t just reflect nature as we know it—they imagine new possibilities, where organisms blend and evolve together in ways that don’t yet exist. Oversized cells crawl through root networks and human bodies; unknown animals are born from wood and hay. In our imaginative space, there are no limitations to the possibilities of symbiosis.

As part of the exhibition, there will be a special reading with sound performance on 16 April, 7pm. Author Nicole Collignon will read a selection of her short texts and poems, while musician Gabriel Gajger creates an atmospheric soundscape. With the help of live sounds created with natural objects and the violin - alienated by a loop station and effect pedals - a sonic-poetic interplay is created that accompanies the texts in a unique way.
