An extraordinary idea becomes reality: from 23. July to 11. August 2024, the Melon Hall at MQ Raum D opens its doors. What began as a childish dream of a five-year-old Viennese in the Adriatic holiday resort of Chioggia Sottomarina is now, over 20 years later, being brought to life in the MuseumsQuartier.
The Melon Hall offers a unique opportunity to bring the dolce far niente of the south into the hot Viennese summer. For three weeks, visitors can enjoy sliced, organic Italian watermelon of the "Anguria Reggiana IGP" variety - the only protected watermelon in Europe - every day from 3 pm to 10 pm. This fruity pleasure is complemented by refreshing Prosecco on tap and exquisite Negroni Sbagliato, prepared with homemade vermouth in cooperation with the organic winery Göbel from Vienna and L'Aperitivo by Nonino.

Highlights of the Melon Hall:

Italo Scheibn
finest Italo disco curated by derLux (DJ-Set)

Scopa evening
Italian card game, watermelon and Negroni Sbagliato
every Thu from 18h

From renowned kitchens such as Noma in Copenhagen to studying sustainability and now back to the culinary world - Paul Mitsch's journey is reflected in the Melon Hall. Here, culinary excellence and sustainable enjoyment merge in the form of "Anguria Reggiana IGP" and homemade vermouth with wild herbs and fruits from the Stammersdorf countryside to create an unforgettable experience.
The Melon Hall is not only a tribute to Italian gourmet culture, but also a place that brings people together. The idea of a hall that exclusively offers a marvellous treat has found a new home in Vienna.
Be there when the Melon Hall opens its doors and experience a unique combination of culinary delights and southern flair. We look forward to your visit!
