this human world co-host a special screening series with partners at MuseumsQuartier at MQ Raum D. This event will feature two short films ("What if Women Ruled the World?" and "Esterno giorno") by resident artist Giulia Magno, winner of this human world’s 2023 short film competition and recipient of the 2023 MQ Artist-in-Residence award, as well as one short film ("Nesting.") by Vienna-based artist, researcher, and curator Valerie Habsburg. Following the screening, Magno and Habsburg will engage in a dialogue, offering insights into their work and processes.
Valerie Habsburg researches topics such as (vanished) memory(s), time and temporality(ies) and their relation to space and place. Archives form an important basis for her artistic research work, which is expressed in photography, video, objects and performance and is shown internationally. She is a founding member of the Artistic Research Collective and the TFR Archive.
Giulia Magno is an Italian filmmaker, art historian, and curator based in Rome. Drawing inspiration from cinema, architecture, literature, painting, and performance art, her films interweave references to the histories of film, art, and popular culture, exploring the role that images play in the construction of personal and collective identity.
