What role does the artist's book play in contemporary art? What inspires so many young artists today to engage with this medium? What is an artist's book anyway?
In the exhibition "Artists As Independent Publishers" - AAIP - 120 artists' books by young artists from the University of Applied Arts Vienna (Department of Drawing and Printmaking), the University of the Arts Bremen, the University of Applied Arts Düsseldorf - Peter Behrens School of Arts, the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle and the Sint Lucas School of Arts, Antwerp, will be shown.
The exhibition will be on show at all these venues, starting in Bremen in October 2024 at the Centre for Artists' Publications, Museum of Modern Art Weserburg.
The mumok is the second venue for the exhibition, which is being realised in Vienna in collaboration with the Department of Drawing and Printmaking at the Angewandte.
