For 30 years, the Architekturzentrum Wien has been showing what architecture can do, and what education, research and a collection can achieve. To mark this anniversary, we are opening up the entire building and inviting visitors to take a look behind the scenes of the museum's multifaceted work.
In 1993 the Architekturzentrum Wien began its test run in what was then the Messepalast trade fair centre. This was the beginning of a success story. Three decades later, the Az W has long since become one of the world’s leading architecture museums and plays a decisive role in shaping the architectural discourse. On around 2,200 square metres in the MQ, the Az W engages with current issues and the future, and always sees itself as a bridge between the professional world and everyday expertise. Have you ever wondered how an exhibition is created, how people work in a collection, what can be done in a museum’s workshop, or how to reach the Az W’s attic? From 15h, you are all cordially invited to see the Az W from a different perspective. There is a gathering of international and local voices for the official part of the evening, after which it’s partytime in the courtyard.
