"Networks and friendships"

Thu 09.11., 10-17h

The 5th Egon Schiele Symposium focuses on Egon Schiele's individual artist friendships and addresses selected aspects in connection with Albert Paris Gütersloh, Felix Albrecht Harta, Oskar Kokoschka and Max Oppenheimer. The connection to the collector and museum founder Karl Ernst Osthaus is examined in detail, as is Schiele's network around the painter Adolf Hölzel. In addition, an exciting insight is provided into the topic of the preservation of movable cultural assets in relation to Schiele's artworks and contemporary terminologies and concepts are addressed with regard to the production act of Viennese "Neukunst". This year's keynote speech will start with the tension between form and function of artistic areas in the imperial and royal monarchy.

With lectures by Philipp Blom, Régine Bonnefoit, Tobias Burg, Ulrike Emberger, Laura Feurle, Simone Hönigl, Kerstin Jesse, Alexander Klee and Alexandra Matzner. The 5th Egon Schiele Symposium will take place in the auditorium of the Leopold Museum.

Programme: 09.11.2023 - 5. EGON SCHIELESYMPOSIUM
