Their plumage is shimmering black. With their strange hairstyle and long, bright red beak, they look like something out of a fairy tale. Their wings have forgotten the way south.
The northern bald ibis. They are native to our country, but were almost wiped out. They survived in the zoo, but they have forgotten how to get to their wintering grounds in Italy and back again. In order for them to live in the wild again, the migratory birds have to learn this route again. People are now helping the Northern Bald Ibis chicks as foster parents. Take Katharina, for example. She flies ahead in a light aircraft and the Northern Bald Ibis chicks follow her.
The world of the Northern Bald Ibis is full of stories. Stories about beauty at second sight, friendship between animals and humans, loving companionship, respect between adults and children, about migratory birds and about what family can mean. The agency schallundrauch tells these stories, dances, flies and sings about hope and about trying something, even if it is difficult, and her plumage shimmers black. With their strange hairstyle and long, bright red beak, they look like something out of a fairy tale. Their wings have forgotten the way south.
In German.
