Symposium Ludwig goes digital! Citizen Humanities and Digital Collection Research
Mo 07.10., 09 – 18h
Since 2023, mumok has been focusing on participatory collections research. As part of the Ludwig goes digital! project funded by the Peter and Irene Ludwig Foundation, we are working together with the young participants of our Creative Learning Coding courses exploring the museum’s collection, artworks and artists based on the principles of Citizen Humanities.
At our symposium, we will present the applications and digital artworks developed in the co-creation process, share lessons learned and best practices from the project, and invite you to discuss the new forms of participatory collecting practice.
What can you expect?
- Fundamental museological research: Insights into the methods and principles of modern museology and digital archiving.
- Citizen humanities: Together with young citizen scientists, we will analyse collections and reflect on existing practices and structures.
- A.I. and Culture: Discussions on AI, machine learning and their social implications.
- Co-creation and visualisation: Creating digital visualisations of collection holdings through the co-creation process.
- Crowdsourcing Module: Collaborative research and experimentation with an innovative crowdsourcing tool (developed with Semantics).
Join us in exploring new ways of fundamental museological and participatory digital collections research and visualisation through lectures, workshops, discussions, networking, publications and much more!
