Apparatus #5 by Luca Sabot marks the end of the first season of the Speedshow series. The kinetic sculpture consists of a filigree mechanism that splits teeth, one by one, four per day. People create machines to do tasks they don't want to do, to rationalise processes that are tedious or energy-intensive. Luca Sabot's machines are made to meticulously reconstruct and convey emotional impulses. Apparatus #5 conveys the medical condition of stress-induced teeth grinding. By processing donor teeth, it alleviates the pressure exerted by their former wearers.

Speedshow Series is an exhibition format of the University of Applied Arts Vienna, curated by the Department of Digital Art / UBERMORGEN. In collaboration with the MuseumsQuartier. Luca Sabot is a graduate of the Department of Digital Art in 2024.
