Freedom manifests itself as both collective and individual resistance. With the quote "Freedom is a daily practice", performance artist Shahrzad Nazarpour will explore revolutionary forms of existence and political bodies in her series of performances "Hair, Stone and Voices".
All over the world, FLINTA* people are still fighting for their emancipation in various forms, ways and manners. Unfortunately, many are rarely taken seriously and hardly included in solidarity practices in the Western context. In the performance series "Hair, Stones and Voices", the focus is on the emancipation of FLINTA* people in Iran and Afghanistan to show how they risk their lives every day for justice. In this context and in this debate, every part of these people's bodies takes on a political meaning.
In the performance series, hair will take on the role of the protagonist. She describes her hair as a symbol of resistance, solidarity and a political statement. The performance "Hair, Stones and Voices" not only calls for solidarity with FLINTA* in the Middle East, but also reminds us of emancipation for global freedom.
Shahrzad Nazarpour has been working on this performance series since 2020 and has staged various parts of it. In her work, she deals with themes such as political bodies, colonial fantasies and various forms of discrimination by combining theatre, dance and performance art.
