Reading & Talk: MQ Artist-in-Residence Isabel Fargo Cole
Thu 22.06., 19h l MQ Summer Stage, Main Courtyard l free admission
In "The Gold Coast. Eine Irrfahrt" (2022), Isabel Fargo Cole follows in the footsteps of her great-great-grandfather Arva Fargo, who set off from California to Alaska in 1900 in search of gold. The expedition of the Berlin-based author leads into economic and ecological contexts, into the prospecting and abysses of the American dream.
During her residency at the MQ, she is working on a complex of essays on Adalbert Stifter, which, among other things, revolves around themes of "nature writing". On the MQ Summer Stage, she talks with curator Elisabeth Hajek and Erwin Uhrmann ("Die Presse") about nature writing, Stifter's Vienna, and her project Waldschaffen.de, which involves Berlin cultural workers in nature projects.
