The Opening of the new permanent exhibition: 'Hot Questions — Cold Storage'

The Architekturzentrum Wien has long been engaging with the question: What can architecture do? Examined from every possible angle, this question is also behind the Collection. At the same time, we want to ask: What can the Collection do?

Museum collections are far more than just accumulations of the flotsam and jetsam of history. Their social relevance is shown with enquiry and visualisation in the connection between research and the mandate to collect. The new permanent exhibition, ‘Hot Questions — Cold Storage’ engages in a discussion about its own practice, proactively contributing to a museum of the future.

Speakers at the Opening:
Hannes Swoboda, Az W president
Angelika Fitz, Az W director
Karin Lux, executive director Az W
Monika Platzer, head of special collections and Az W curator
Veronica Kaup-Hasler, Executive City Councillor for Cultural Affairs and Science, Vienna

Guest lecturer:
Tom Avermaete, Chair of the History and Theory of Urban Design, ETH Zürich
