Cornelia Hülmbauer, born 1982, studied English, art history and linguistics. In 2016, Hülmbauer was a finalist at the open mike, in 2018 her poetry debut "MAU OEH D" (Sukultur) was published, and in 2018 she also received the Theodor-Körner-Förderpreis. At this year's O-Töne opening, she will read from her debut novel "oft manchmal nie" (Residenz).
Birgit Birnbacher, born in 1985, lives as a writer in Salzburg. Birnbacher has already received several awards for her literary work, including the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize (2019). She was featured in the opening programme of the O-Töne in 2017 with her debut novel "Wir ohne Wal", which also won the Jürgen Ponto Foundation Prize for Literature. Her second novel "Ich an meiner Seite" landed at number one on the ORF bestseller list in May 2020 and was nominated for the German Book Prize. With her current third, highly acclaimed novel "Wovon wir leben" (Zsolnay) she opens the 20th O-Töne Festival this year.
