If the term "warehouse" originally referred to a place for storing grain and supplies, Nadim Vardag's artist's book maps cognitive processes related not only to etymology and semantics but, more importantly, to the aesthetics of storage in the context of cultural and technological change, which is the subject of the volume itself: Standing on a bookshelf, it archives a selection of Vardag's work, including drypoint etchings of knot motifs, wall objects made of beechwood slats and aluminum snap frames, and installation views of room-sized sculptures that address sculptural questions of volume, surface, and material between autonomy and functionality.
