Between rapid catchiness and elegantly inconsistent total denial, the band Half Darling operates several levers of pop history: punk, noise, hip hop, lovesong and Steve Reich! Through numerous musical references, selective references are made that add up to an independent, partly irritating and thoroughly feminist aesthetic.
The songs on their first, self-titled album are carried by a high energy level, with the band focusing on minimalist structures, rhythmic shifts, irritation and the intensity of repetition. Together, HALF DARLING produce musical gems that put loops, beats, riot and pop-affine hooklines into tension ratios that drive the fully loaded cart into the wall at every turn - simply because the impact sounds so beautiful.

The music was composed by Gregor Mahnert using loop machines, guitars and drums and arranged and realised with Half Darling. Lyrics and vocals for the songs were written by Lisa Kortschak and Mahnert.
