The artist Wenmin Tong (born 1989, Chongqing), who lives and works in the MuseumsQuartier as part of the MQ Art & Ecology studio program in May and June, is one of China's most prominent artists in the field of ecology-related art.
One of her most important works is the ongoing performance project “From South to North”, which the artist started in 2022 and whose approach is based on both research and artistic practice. By measuring the geographical appearance and contour of different regions of the world, Tong experiences and absorbs various ecological environments and boundaries, such as rainforests, deserts, glaciers, water systems, mountains, coastlines, highways, and urban areas, in her encounters with nature. A large-format photographic work and video works by performance artist can be seen in the MQ Pop-Up Schauraum till the end of August.
On the same evening (05.06.), a meadow vernissage with works by Anita Fuchs herself, Markus Hiesleitner, Alexandra Kontriner and Simon Brugner will take place on Anita Fuchs' wild plant meadow "Versuchsfeld1". The exhibition "Be the Living Room" will also open in the Schauraum Angewandte.
On the same evening (05.06.2024), further events will take place in the MQ Showrooms:
• exhibtion opening „Be the Living Room" at Schauraum Angewandte
• exhibtion opening „Séance de Travail_2: condensation of sensations" at Antichambre
• Meadow vernissage at „Versuchsfeld1“ by Anita Fuchs
