Live DJ-Set: LENS J aka Markus Oberndorfer
Every Monday from 18 – 22h, the Monday Listening Club offers visitors a unique combination of vinyl listening experience, vintage flea market and live DJ sets on the MQ Summer Stage. It invites you to enjoy the beauty and fascination of vinyl records in a relaxed and inspiring environment. Music lovers can come together to share memories, discover treasures and celebrate the timeless magic of music.
Markus Oberndorfer, also known as LENS J, is a visual artist specialising in photography and time-based audio-visual media. He is a co-founder of the media and DJ collective Rotaug, which has existed since 1998, a vinyl collector and runs the label „Darkroom Debuts", which operates at the interface between visual art and music.
His passion for music began with hip-hop in the mid-90s and vinyl and mix tapes that friends brought back from the States. His interest initially expanded to music genres that served as sample sources for hip-hop, and later to electronic music. Following the principle of "let's dig a litte deeper", his record collection is now broadly diversified. From hip-hop, house, dub, techno, jungle, jazz, cumbia and p-funk to other obscurities from all over the world, you can find everything in it.
He has been active as a DJ since the late 90s. Today he works under the pseudonyms SIRLENSALOT and LENSON PIQUET, under which he regularly releases music as a producer. He was one of the initiators of the Rotaug parties, which have been held regularly since the 90s, and later the event series "MashMash", which took place in the legendary Morisson Club and featured Ugly Duckling, Akua Naru, DJ Static & Professor Groove (Wefunk), Vertual Vertigo, Rider Shafique, Kalhex and others.
