"Langer Tag der Flucht" invites people with and without experience of fleeing to a free guided tour through the current exhibition "No Dancing Allowed" at frei_raum Q21 exhibition space.
The tour is held in simple German language.
Where does movement take place when it is forbidden? "No Dancing Allowed" illustrates how dance can unite and transform communities.
Many people feel a great deal of insecurity from events like the pandemic and societal crises in many parts of the world. Insecurity and dance are by no means alien to each other. Dance can help in times of crisis and strengthen the community. But how can dance work if closeness and personal presence are not possible? Dancing didn't vanish during the pandemic but took place on social media. New forms of dance were found. Examples of this are Britney Spears' SOS dance, which strengthened the #FreeBritney movement, or family dance battles on Zoom.
Admission to the exhibition is free
