Taster workshop in cooperation with the Austrian Society for Political Education - ÖGPB
We all know them, the hurtful and discriminatory slogans that are based on generalisations and sweeping generalisations. They are mainly, but not only, uttered at the regulars' table and are so "compact" that they often leave those present speechless. The arguments against them usually only occur to us afterwards.
The "Argumentation training against regulars' table slogans" developed by German political scientist Klaus-Peter Hufer has been used in political education for many years. It looks for answers to such hate slogans and offers a training ground for counter-strategies through simulated dialogue situations. In addition, the political, socio-psychological and social contexts of the slogans are analysed together during the training.
The ÖGPB, the specialist organisation for political adult education in Austria, has been offering argumentation training as a trainer course for many years. In this taster workshop, the training will be presented and parts of it will be tried out together. The focus is on the arts and culture sector: on slogans that are directed against this sector and against cultural workers, but also on slogans that are used within this sector.
Leader of the workshop: Dr Hakan Gürses, ÖGPB (www.politischebildung.at)
