Egon Schiele – A Personal Encounter
Interactive Virtual Reality Experience
It is a cold night in late October 1918, just before the end of World War I. Vienna is blighted by disease and hunger. Egon Schiele, caught in a febrile delirium, begins to draw a portrait of us in his studio, while involving us in an intense conversation. Through flashbacks, we delve into the world of "Vienna 1900" and experience key moments of Schiele’s life.
The Virtual Reality experience "Egon Schiele – A Personal Encounter" is not only a tribute to Schiele’s artistic oeuvre but also an innovative opportunity to experience his life up close and personal. Schiele tells his story and asks us questions, with our answers influencing the storyline – making this our own, deeply personal encounter with Egon Schiele.
"Egon Schiele – A Personal Encounter" is available both in a German and English version, and will be shown from 3rd April 2025 for two weeks at the Leopold Museum. The VR experience is free of charge and starts daily (except Tuesdays) at 11 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm. The time slots can be booked only at the museum’s ticket desk with a valid museum ticket. For around 35 minutes, we find ourselves in Vienna around 1900, experiencing the world of a young artist, his visions and the resistance he faced.
