Händel goes wild
DANCE/PERFORMANCE/MUSIC
Werke von Georg Friedrich Händel
in arrangements and improvisations
Audiences cheered themselves into a frenzy or simply fainted with excitement, prima donnas fell over each other to be the first to sing his latest arias – in the early 18th century George Frideric Handel was the pop star of his day. This Baroque composer came up with his melodies by improvising on the harpsichord. In keeping with this technique, Christina Pluhar stages her project "Handel Goes Wild" as one big jam session. Baroque meets the 21st century – imaginative, jazzy and committed to the very highest artistic standards – and not just thanks to the participation of star countertenor Valer Sabadus.
