Concert: Kinky Muppet Live
ART, DANCE/PERFORMANCE/MUSIC
As part of the exhibition "ON STAGE - All the Art World’s a Stage", Kinky Muppet will perform live at the mumok on 27th September.
Kinky Muppet merrily scurries through the themes of this time, creative AIs who also want to paint a picture sometimes and cry over a broken heart, think Alexa is their best friend and lament the many construction sites that exist in our world in duplicate and triplicate. The trio consisting of Katrin Plavčak (guitar & vocals), Nicholas Hoffman (bass, baritone & vocals) and Oliver Stotz (drums & samples) play their way through their surreal song worlds with verve and enthusiasm, stumble over the bridges they have built themselves and finally fall into the pit they have dug for themselves with harmony songs. There's not a dry eye in the house: We're building a road in the middle of the street!
Kinky means quirky and weird, Muppet is a jerk or an American puppet, Kinky Muppet is the name of a fishing lure, and Kinky Muppet is a band from Vienna. Their songs sometimes start out dragging, then they assault the listener with a ponderous riff, only to break out of the rut again with unexpected bridges and rhythm changes. No expectation, but no boredom either.
