Camilla Schielin "into (quickening ground)"

In the performance "into (quickening ground)", Camilla Schielin continues her exploration of the persistence of the past and forms of ghostly return. The performance draws from the personal and the common as a source to be trusted. Shared emotions, bodily archives, and the idea of nostalgia for lost futures are taken up to be then let go gently. What has been concealed is very much alive and calls for devotion.

Based on biography, inscribed memories, encounters and ‘phantom dances’, the performance considers and explores the concept of "haunting". Part of this is Tecktonik, a post-internet dance and bygone youth culture that has emerged between the real and the virtual sphere. "into (quickening ground)" embraces fleeting gestures and shifting meanings as the past leaks in. The motif of return in the ghostly opens up a field of possibilities between active and passive, between occupying and being possessed. Like a wasteland – waiting for future fantasies.
