Artist Talk and Performance with Bella Angora

Bella Angora has already explored the time factor on various levels in a number of projects. These include aspects such as transience, the fast pace of life and the extent to which these affect individuals and society as a whole. She takes a feminist perspective, as she believes that much of what makes time scarce and fast is the result of a patriarchal-hierarchical system.

Life is a temporal process; it begins and ends at some point. People go through different processes over the course of their personal lifetime. However, one process is constant: the ageing process. In this project, Bella Angora focuses on a very special stage of ageing, the female menopause. The menopause is a phase of transformation; we pass midlife and become more aware of our own finiteness day by day. The body loses its fertility and enters a new phase of life. This forces a concentrated examination of ageing in order to establish a different way of dealing with oneself.

How does a woman want to experience the remaining time and what does she need for this? Where does a new fertility manifest itself? How does an ageing woman position herself within society? What developments do women still want to make? In ME, MYSELF & TIME, Bella Angora searches for answers to questions like these.

The Artist Talk will be moderated by Liane Seitz and is organised in cooperation with wechselweise.net.
