We dance like peacock spiders, roar like red deer, adorn ourselves with strange feathers and show off like prairie chickens. We glitter and shimmer, whoop and trill.

Inspired by the courtship behaviour of animals, we explore the need to present ourselves on stage, to seduce, dazzle and please. We explore the behaviour of animals and place their creativity in a human context. What do I do to please? What do I have to offer? What do I do to belong?

"BALZEN" is a visual performance about the desire to be there, to impress and the longing for recognition. The performers combine magical transformations with boastful gestures and celebrate the animalistic approach with seemingly absurd movements and shrill sounds. The results are dances and choreographies that open up new perspectives on our behaviour.
