The breast has an important symbolic significance in the art of the old masters and its depiction still has cultural, social and political meaning today. Using selected works from the collection of Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna and the exhibition Darker, Lighter, Puffy, Flat, you will learn how breasts have been depicted throughout history and which cross-connections, parallels, and shifts can be discovered.

In a set-up inspired by the food and catering industries’ cosmos of commodities, Julischka Stengele creates a space of activity staging various dishes, the sampling of them, and a reflection on our sense of taste. Materialities, smells, aromas, colours and shapes combine with performative elements to create an aesthetic experience that involves all the senses.
