A Forest to Grow People
CHILDREN & FAMILY, DANCE/PERFORMANCE/MUSIC
Once there was a huge forest that stretched over 1300 km2. More than 200 years ago, it was cleared by colonialists. Biodiversity was lost and the ancient forest, which had grown for twenty million years, was destroyed in just two centuries. The history of most forests ends in this tragic way.
However, this forest was given a second chance, and with this chapter begins the story of Shalev and a forest that grew up with her: In 2003, Shalev's parents decided to start a reforestation project in a very dry area of the world that would become their home. In 2003, Shalev was not yet born and there were only five trees there. People from all over the world came to help plant the trees. In 2023, Shalev will be 15 years old. Do you want to know how many trees are here now? In 2060, she will be 52 years old - how many trees will there be in the world then?
