08.09.2019 to 08.09.2019 - mumok
Open House at mumok
FREE ENTRY, EDUCATION, ART, CHILDREN & FAMILY, DANCE/PERFORMANCE/MUSIC
As every fall, this year mumok will again be opening its doors for free admission for anyone interested in art—or anyone who would like to get interested. The diverse range of exhibitions means that there is surely something for everyone. If you want to test out your powers of perception, then Vertigo. Op Art and a History of Deception 1520–1970 is the right thing for you. To bring color, different shapes and forms, and emotion back into art was the aim of another art movement in the USA in the 1970s. The exhibition Pattern and Decoration. Ornament as Promise presents this art, which today is witnessing an unprecedented boom. A solo show by the well-known Austrian artist Dorit Margreiter includes architecture, film, mobiles, and photographs, while Ukrainian artist Nikita Kadan reflects in his exhibition Project of Ruins on the many political problems in his home country.
In addition to our exhibitions, the mumok Open House offers a lively education program, with tours and workshops, and further highlights. There is a flea market the whole day long in the stables, and in the afternoon the MusikarbeiterInnenkapelle will be playing working-class songs and techno covers in front of the museum.
