VLAN.RADIO

The cultural association VLAN (Vienna Local Area Network) was founded in December 2020 by Carolina-Sophia Steinhuber and Johannes Piller and operates the non-commercial community radio station "vlan.radio" with them. Since then, the internet radio station streams contemporary (non-)club music (almost) every Friday from different spaces, from April to June live from courtyard 8 of the MQ.

The focus of the curation of "vlan.radio" is on empowerment of marginalized groups. Although many of the club-cultural music currents have their origins in homosexual and African-American scenes, today, especially in Western European countries, we have to confront an underrepresentation of exactly these groups. That's why the hashtag created for this is #worldwidewien, which on the one hand is meant to emphasize the local color and on the other hand the global idea of a networked world.
