The 18th edition of the international short film festival VIENNA SHORTS starts on May 27 and once again presents a carefully curated selection of films up to 30 minutes in length. For the four competition categories (two international, two national), a total of 90 recent works from more than 4,500 submissions have been cast into feature-length film programs. Half of the entries came from women.

In specially themed programs, the festival, together with three partner festivals, is dedicated to the theme of solidarity. In four late-night programs, genre film is indulged in its most beautiful forms. And from several angles - some humorous, some wistful - the handling or consequences of the pandemic will also be examined.

VIENNA SHORTS will take place from May 27 to June 1 online at www.viennashorts.com and thisisshort.com and, should the pandemic allow it, at the Stadtkino im Künstlerhaus and at various open-air locations.
