Sasha Svirsky, Nadya Svirskaia: Something has happened
FREE ENTRY, ART, FILM & DIGITAL CULTURE
Animation Avantgarde Reception: Sat 28.05., 14.30h, ASIFAKEIL
Something has happened and reality appears on the surface of the virtuality we have immersed. One cannot simply say it is not that simple anymore. It has all suddenly become black and white. It has become that simple.
Russian artists and curators Sasha Svirsky (1980) and Nadya Svirskaia (1978) left Russia when the invasion of Russia against Ukraine started. Sasha Svirsky is author/artist/director of more than 30 animated films made in collaboration with Nadya Svirskaia. Their films won numerous awards at festivals like the Hong Kong International Film Festival, FILMFEST DRESDEN, Balkanima, and participated in competitions of Berlinale or Vienna Shorts.
In the month of May, the artist duo will show an installation at ASIFAKEIL based on spontaneous artistic methods and multiple technical approaches. Being not bound by pre-existing rules, a spontaneous creation process becomes a way to reflect on the nature of freedom and how it can be manifested and exercised.
The artists will personally present their installation at the Animation Avantgarde Reception hosted by Vienna Shorts and ASIFA Austria.
