The Power as the Basis of Right project curated by Gülsen Bal and Walter Seidl addresses a number of complex issues in relation to how a sovereign state or those in power regulate mobility and social conditions which constantly produces states of exclusions of its own in both its national and local constructions in which positionalities and political practices give rise. 

In seeking to open up new “possible futures”, the artists featured in this Power as the Basis of Right project deal with the issues of dominant political power and the struggle and states of exclusions of the communities subjected to it. The presented video works examine forms of mobility and resistance in order to avoid spaces of existence being taken away and questions “it is this ability to produce and reproduce not merely oneself but also all the possible alternatives to oneself” as much as to political opposition or movements for social change as the basis of right.
