Heidemarie Pichler: made in asia

The series "made in asia" was created during a 2-month stay in Thailand and Laos. Heide Pichler refers to social and economic conditions with the use of the ubiquitous plastic sack, the imprints on the food bags and the juxtaposition of traditional cuts with Western garments. The colorful, everyday means of transport for consumer and food goods have been stripped of their original function and have become the source material for shirts and pants. The work is also an allusion to the cheap - human and environmentally exploitative - production of our short-lived Western clothing.
