The artist and photographer Christian Strassegger has laid in wait in his garden a trail camera and with it traced the shadows of the night. The result is a series of photographs taken between 2015 and 2019 and the accompanying catalog The Secret Life of Art in the Wilderness.

A 5000 m2 plot of land on the edge of the forest. On it an open-air art course. A wildlife camera/photo trap. The deer, birds, rabbits, martens, mice, insects, cats, ... day and night. Pixelwork. Mostly while we sleep, the local wild and domestic animals cavort on the property next to our residence at Kulm. The photo trap snaps shut as soon as something moves. Infrared flashed, roughly pixelated, low resolution. Then, in the warm living room, amazement at the graceful animals. Digital post-processing of the captured prey. Nature and art in one picture. The attempt to unite the natural and the artificial.

Christian Strassegger sees the world through the eyes of a little prince on long legs. His perspective falls equally on the beauty of nature, as on the problems that our time causes the same. His medium is the visible. The points of view, which he finely draws in his artistic photography, land art and skilful installations, are not mere illustrations, but carry messages in them, which the viewer perceives sublimely.
