Ernst Logar: Reflecting Oil

Oil – in its many mutable forms – is a problematic resource and the foundation of our modern society. It is the basis of our global petroculture, permeates our everyday world in complex ways, and its cultural shaping of society is widely unknown. The installation, "Reflecting Oil: From Word to Substance", addresses crude oil‘s omnipresence, abstract conceptuality, and physical presence. In its immediacy and simplicity, the installation questions our reality tied to crude oil and our role as petro-subjects.

Ernst Logar (*1965 in Klagenfurt) is an artist and cultural worker living in Vienna. Since 1995 he has been working with the media of photography, film and sculpture, as well as installation works. In his work, Logar addresses existing mat relations, as well as contemporary historical, socio-cultural and ecological phenomena.
