Q21 Artist-in-Residence Eric McEver will be giving a lecture on his life and career as a bilingual filmmaker in the US and Japan, and discuss the challenges and opportunities that arise in telling stories that fuse very different languages and cultures. He will screen a sampling of his films followed by a Q&A.

"The theme of 'transformation' appears throughout my films. Be it transformation from child to adult, body to spirit, or human to god, the heroes find themselves transported across time and space into new forms. The Japanese word for 'transformation' is 'henshin,' which is also a key piece of dialogue in my latest film, Iké Boys. So enjoy this celebration of 'henshin,' and may it inspire transformation in your own life."
