Diego Ledesma García (ECU): Pepa de Oro

Cacao is the gold of Ecuador and looks back upon a long history of more than five thousand years as a cultigen. In his installation „Pepa de Oro“ Quito based artist Diego Ledesma deals with the multilayered and scenic relations of cacao. The combination of 2D and 3D creates an animated projection that lets us participate in the beauty and sublimity of nature.

Diego Ledesma García is Q21 Artist-in-Residence in January and February 2022. He is a visual artist and art educator who lives and works in Ecuador/ Quito.
His research processes are on the edges of art, education and ethnography. He is interested in inquiring about how different cultural environments can build landscapes.
Through his professional career has worked on different projects with public institutions and collective initiatives related to education and arts.
