The exhibition “From a Good House”, part of the series Salon of Cultures, handles art with regard to social conventions and social conditions. The parents’ house has a considerable influence on the possibilities of (hopeful) artists. Historically, it has hardly been possible to become an artist if you do not come from a “good home” and – even today – it’s not easy without the appropriate ideational and financial support. What does this mean for art? How does family background influence artistic creation? What does “from a good home” actually mean? And isn’t support also about being open to what one’s own child does and learning about the future from one’s own child? A very personal exhibition on social questions in art that begin with one’s own family.
