The photographic work of Markus Sepperer emerges from the megacity of Chongqing, which is Chinas fastest growing metropolis and forms a huge urbanisation hub on the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers.
In his pictures an impressively form of spaces of otherness* are unfolded.

Utopias without significant spaces are formed by collision of high-speed-urbanization, rebellion against authorities, transformation of biographies, internal migration and urban gardening. Appearing spots on urban layout plans refer to fugacity and vulnerability, moreover they point to the insistence of the human will.

*In Michel Foucault´s Essay „Des espaces autres“ the philosopher describes the present as not any longer formed by development, stagnancy, loop or accumulation of the past but rather as the age of space.
