UNO goes Camp

Franz Ablinger (monochrom/quartier21) will show the Prequel to monochrom's "Sierra Zulu", a comedy set at the Vienna International Center.
Curator Signe Theill will introduce to the world of comic strips that used the UNO - from Superwoman to Donald Duck.

Maria Veie Sandvik: Iconology of a New World Order – Per Krohg’s Painting
in the United Nations Security Council

In 1947, Norwegian painter Per Krohg  was commissioned to make a painting for the UN Security Council chamber in New York. Curator and art historian Maria Veie Sandvik unfolds the history of the painting and the role of Norway in the formative years of the UN.

Alfred Banze: H-O-P-E
The artist Alfred Banze took a copy of Krohg’s painting on a two-year journey through China, Congo, Myanmar and other countries. In numerous workshops with people of all ages and professions he produced videos that reflect the iconology of Krohg and the role of the United Nations.

The Center for Political Beauty is certainly the most controversial collective in Europe concerning questions of the political engagement and ethical responsibility of the arts.
Together with Philipp Ruch, artistic director of the CPB, the curators Signe Theill and Peter Winkels will discuss projects ranging from “Pillar of Shame” to “Erster europäischer Mauerfall”.
