Even in our language today we find many words that relate to textiles; we talk about the world wide web, we network, and we talk about the fabric of life. All thi \"rattling good yarn\" proves that the ancient skill of crafting textiles still has an undeniable influence not only on the language we use, but also on the way we think. For thousands of years we have used costumes and clothing as a means of identity, defining social rank and status.
\"On the Catwalk into the Past\" presents 60 costumes which will take you through textile time - from the Early Stone Age to the splendour of the Baroque period. Thorough research and study in the fields of experimental archaeology, art history, iconography, combined with the knowledge of ancient craftsmen has enabled us to open this window into the past and give an impression of what people wore in the past. The show will take the audience step-by-step through thousands of years of clothing, explaining little known facts, lifting the veil, and allowing a glimpse into the exciting world of human vanity.
When we say \"get a move on\" – we are actually referring to the color mauve - a synthetic dye that was invented in the 1850s and was very popular for half a century!
