One look at all the posters that have mounted up since the opening of the MuseumsQuartier Wien shows how long ten years have been. All the advertising posters from the first decade of the MQ are now on view in a 10th anniversary exhibition at designforum Wien organized by the design agency and the MuseumsQuartier Wien.

\"How does a cultural brand communicate?\" \"Is there a common denominator among more than sixty cultural initiatives with divergent focuses and dimensions?\" \"Does a cultural complex like the MQ even need an umbrella brand and separate advertising?\"

\r\n

These are just a few of the questions that the MQ\'s owners, operators, and institutions have repeatedly asked in the course of the last ten years. They hint at the complexity of the undertaking to make cultural diversity accessible to a target group that is as broad and heterogeneous as possible. The simple and unusual solution is found in the effort to define the narrow dividing line between everyday life, art, and advertising by choosing motifs that give viewers enough leeway to find their own access to one of the largest art and culture facilities in Europe.

\"The MuseumsQuartier is known for its unusual campaigns. The objective is to communicate the diversity of its cultural offerings and at the same time stimulate people\'s curiosity about art and culture. This show presents the chronological development of the communication design created by Büro X to demonstrate the active role that the advertising agency played in creating and defining the MQ brand,\" says MuseumsQuartier Director Dr. Christian Strasser.

\r\n

Since the end of June, the MQ community has been invited to pick their favorite posters from the various campaigns on facebook. The winning posters selected in the online poll will be marked in the exhibition and raffled off to participants.
