"Freewaystück" is an experimental audiography about the itinerary Ghent to Vienna over Berlin and Prague and back: 2656 km registered in two "long tracking shots" on MPEG-4 digital video. Almost 30 hour was filmed riding with a "sonorous" vehicle equipped with two steady cameras (left and right) at a speed between 50 and 150 km/h. The 8 channels soundtrack for TONSPUR 45 has been composed out of four parts, from city to city, starting from the duration of the four drives. I accelerated the source duration in terms of percentage until each part lasts 24 minutes only. The colours of the video image serve as ground for the digital transmutation into sound. The RGB data 0 to 255 are translated into sound frequencies and the loudness of each sound track is set by means of colour tracking the amount of "air" in the video image.
