Still Standing You
Pieter Ampe & Guilherme Garrido (BE/PT)
[8:tension] Young Choreographers\' Series

Date: Sun, Jul 18 and Wed, Jul 21
Venue: Halle G

After their celebrated “Still Difficult Duet”, Pieter Ampe and Gui Garrido will enter the stage together once more. But how much longer will they be able to carry and, more importantly, to bear each other? With great physical intensity they examine the contradictory aspects of their friendship: are they friends, rivals, enemies or lovers? Shamelessly and unabashedly Ampe and Garrido fathom out their limitations, turning them into virtuosity by means of a performance that is just as rough as it is tender.

„You do watch this piece with some amusement. It is a feel-good performance which, sometimes hilariously, formulates questions that we usually experience as troublesome. Ampe and Garrido give us the impression that in every performance they, together with us, are again amazed by the fact that they have a body. They refine this simplicity into an art of the body.“ (De Standard)

Pieter Ampe and Guilherme Garrido met each other at the danceWEB scholarship programme in 2006. Since then, they have been part of the Sweet & Tender Collaborations collective. In 2007 they created “Still Difficult Duet”, which was presented at ImPulsTanz 2009.
