Project info

During her residency at MQ Victoria seeks to explore the ability of communities and individuals to perpetuate and mould cultural identities through creative expression in the face of adversity. Looking at how art serves as both a reflection and a tool of cultural resilience, allowing societies to preserve their identities while critically responding to current issues. Through this, Victoria believes artists are not only vital to preserving cultural narratives but also fostering dialogues and understanding in divided societies. Her project aims to explore and document the theme of cultural resilience through contemporary art in Vienna. By engaging with local artists and understanding their perspectives she will curate an exhibition that highlights the unique ways in which Viennese cultural resilience manifests.
The exhibition will showcase a diverse group of artists whose work embodies the theme of cultural resilience and a transnational approach that surpasses borders through various artistic positions and voices, especially in a post-Brexit climate.
