September 2023 - October 2023Savle Shubladze (b. 1997, Tbilisi, Georgia) has a bachelor's degree in ecology from Ilia University of Tbilisi (2020) and has been studying at the Bachelor of Fine Arts Program at the Free University of Tbilisi, School of Visual Arts, Architecture and Design VA(A)DS since 2021. He was a scholarship recipient of Ria Keburia AiR program (Georgia) and was shown at TAF (Tbilisi Art Fair) 2022.
He is strongly concerned with themes of ecology, human-nature relations, injury, illness and healing. The artist likes to take site-specific situations or found objects and their history as a starting point for his artistic works. He works with different media and representation strategies, creates installations, but also uses photography and sculpture.
Savle Shubladze immerses herself in a research process that revolves around the observation and exploration of the external environment, which can be described as a form of "passive search". With a specific intention focused on the theme of illness, the project goes beyond mere observation and gives new meaning to the spaces and objects discovered.
The artist engages in fieldwork, collecting and searching for data about the condition of the forest environment. This search process will be interwoven with his main interest in the hidden and invisible inhabitants:inside the forest ecosystem.
On Wed 13.09, 18h Savle Shubladze opens his exhibition titled Nocturnal Wetting at the MQ Pop-Up Schauraum.
